15 month check up

Brooklyn had her check up this last Monday. Here are her stats.
Height: 31 inches 70th percentile
Weight: 23.1 pounds 50th percentile
Head: 46.5 cm 60th percentile

The doctor was really impressed with her overall development. When he first walked in the room she ran from the table to me and he was surprised that she was running. She can also point to her eyes, nose and mouth. He said that that is a 2 year old development. I really love my baby and can't believe how fast she catches on to things. It seems like I show her something once and she can do it after that. Here is a few other things she is doing now:
*Running
*Talking-bird, plane, momma, dada, dog, toille, pat, rama (grandma), papa (grandpa), ball, more, shoes, fish, wash, mine, hi, bye bye, baby...I am sure there are a few more that I can't think of.
*She points to her stomach and says belly!
*She loves to wash her hands
*She loves to take my phone or the remote and runaway and say mine while laughing!
*Her favorite show used to be Mickey Mouse Clubhouse but just the last few days it is pat pat (which is Brooklyn talk for Little Einstiens)
*She is very daring and loves to try new things. She will even go down the big kid slide with no help or hesitation!

She has her 4 upper and lower front teeth and is working on all 4 molars at once. The lower right has finally broken through with the other three close behind I'm sure.

Brooklyn is the light of our lives and I am so grateful that the Lord entrusted her precious life with us! She teaches us something new every day, but most of all, patience!

12 month check up and a birthday party!

Super slacker award goes to this mom right here. Oh well better late than never right? We celebarted Brooklyn's birthday party a few days early so we could have it on a Saturday when more peolpe were available to share in her special day. We just had a get together with family to help celebrate. I decided that I was going to make the cupcakes for the party and her little destruction cake. I was going to do a fondant cake but was discouraged by multiple people so I just frosted it instead and piped on Happy birthday. For the cupcakes I was going to make them like they do in the fancy shops but for some reason my frosting would not hold and every time I tried to pipe it on it would just melt off. So I ended up just slapping it on and sticking it in the fridge to help it set up and that seemed to work. I was so stressed out with those things. Next time I will try a different frosting. Here are a few pics from the big day!

The day after her actual birthday was her 12 month check up appointment. Poor girl had to get 2 shots! But she does fairly well with them. How nice of the doctor to give her such a wonderful present right? She is developing really well and the doctor is really impressed with her.
Her stats are as follows:
Height-29 1/4 inches 75th%
Weight- 21.2 pounds 50th%
Head- 46cm 80th%
So overall she is an average baby. Which is just great! We are so happy with our stubborn little one year old. She brings us so much joy most days! Here are a few of the things she is doing...
-Walking, but still a little sea legged
-jabbering up a storm. She says mama and dada. She also attempts Touille and Crush it is more like ooee and shhh
-She knows to tell the dogs shh when they are barking and also no no no
-she has a little rocking chair that she can climb in and out of
-she can get off of the couch without falling, she knows how to turn on her belly and slide off
- she can climb up and down stairs which still baffles me as to where she learned it because she does not really deal with stairs and one day she just started to climb them
-she is off the bottle 100%
-she was off of the binkie until she got sick and then she saw it one day and really wanted it, so we will try again now that she is not sick anymore
-she has 6 teeth 2 on bottom and 4 on top
-she loves her monkey and takes him everywhere we go
-she loves blankets and when she first wakes up she wantsyou to pick her up with her blanket and monkey
-she loves to brush her hair and is finally starting to like to wear bows Yea!!!
-she loves bath time
We love our little baby B and can't belive that it has been a year already. It makes me so sad to think that we have already had a year pass by. Before we know it she is going to be getting married and having her own little munchkins. Here are a few other random pictures over the last few weeks.

9 month check up

Brooklyn had her 9 month check up on January 12th so I am a little behind but here are her stats...
Height 26.5 inches 75th percentile
Weight 18 pounds 60th percentile
Brooklyn has reached many milestones that I need to catch up on since I have been such a slacker with the blog. So I apologize in advance cause this is more for my information to have to look back on.
Brooklyn is such an active little girl. She scoots all over the place. She also pulls herself up and will cruise all around. I am sure she will be walking soon. She is getting to be a little parrot. She will say ma ma ma and da da. She also dances to music which is so cute. She can do patty cake if you catch her in the right mood. But all in all she is a very happy baby. She loves to eat everything. It is a good thing she is so active cause if she was not she would probably be one of those roly poly babies! That is all for now with more posts to come with pictures!

Part of a statistic

This is a sad, long put off post. But if I want any record of the proceedings in my life since this is like a journal for me I must do it. Among the many statistics I could find online the percentage of people that are divorced in the United States is 10%. That may not seem like alot compared to how many people there are but it is far higher than it should be. According to a website 45-50% of first marriages end in divorce. That just blows my mind that people can just throw it all away. I am sad to say that after 31 years of what I thought had been a pretty happy marriage my parents are too throwing in the towel. Totally threw me for a loop when I heard this. I still don't know if I know all the facts and what has happened over the last month and a half (yes that is all the time it took) but once the papers go through than it will be a matter of 90 days until the divorce is final. It is kind of crazy cause Cassie my sister in law just made a post on her blog about divorce. I don't think that she knew anything about my parents but she was curious as to if it was worth it. I think as long as you keep close to Heavenly Father and ALWAYS have the gospel in your lives that you can work any problems out. I understand that there are exceptions to the rule but I would hope that every step you could take to over come the problem would be taken before just throwing in the towel. It has been a sad 2 months and if I have seemed distant to anyone that is probably the reason. I am coming to terms with the idea of what this entails and hope that I have the strength to move past this awful time in my life. I am just so grateful for the testimony that I have that families will be together forever and that we are given trials in this life so that we may grow. We may not know the reason for these trials and what we need to learn from them but we will one day. I am grateful that I have a loving husband that has helped me get through this hardship and when I am having a sad moment all I have to do is just look at my beautiful daughter and she brightens any sad moment and it is just that a moment. I know that our family is an eternal one and we will be together throughout the eternities. I love both my mom and dad and I will be there for both of them through all of this.

Life and Times of Brooklyn

There have been a few things going on in the last month and I have slacked on posting them. So I will try to get a quick update in.
First we started Brooklyn on solid foods about a month and a half ago. Let me just tell you this girl LOVES food! Any time I am holding her and trying to eat she opens her mouth for a taste of what mom has. Or if she sees the spoon her mouth pops right open.

We did the mean parent thing and gave her a taste of a salt and vinegar chip. I for some reason cannot upload video to blogger (I am blogger illiterate so if you want to see the video I posted it on facebook.)

She also learned how to roll over. In one swift moment like she had been doing it forever. We were over at my in-laws and I had laid her on the table to change her diaper and after we were finished I let her lay there to just kick her legs and the nexst thing I knew she was reaching out for the wipes and flipped over to get them. (There is also a video on facebook about this!) Maybe when Kellan gets home he can figure it out cause he is smart like that!

She can sit up for a few seconds but is really wobbly so that is the next thing we will be working on. Here is a pic of that.

We went to Lagoon for my mother in laws work Lagoon day and we failed to get any pictures of the day. (we are still working on the parnets taking pictures thing.) But I can say that Brooklyn had tons of fun and she warmed up to Grandpa Doom especially when he gave her an animal cooklie with icing! ( I was not around to protest! Dang long lines)

Like father like daughter. Here is some chill time on the couch!
